June 1, 2011 -- DINNER: The Fine Art of Redistricting in Washington State

Did you know that The Census 2010 population count indicated that Washington has just over 6.7 million residents? With our significant growth, Washington will have a 10th congressional seat.

Join us June 1st for dinner as Lura J. Powell, Ph.D., Chair of the Washington State Redistricting Commission, talks about redrawing the boundaries for each of the state’s 49 legislative and ten congressional districts. The unique organization is formed once every ten years in conjunction with the taking of the US Census. Learn about the recently appointed 2011 Commission and their bipartisan approach to accomplishing redistricting.
